CASCARA SAGRADA

This herb, also known as sacred bark, is a small tree that can grow up to 33 feet tall. The leaves are oblong, dark glossy green, the flowers are small and greenish-yellow and the berries are blue-black to purplish-black.
Cascara Sagrada is rich in vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin B5, manganese, potassium and calcium. Take internally (tincture, capsules, tablets) for intestinal gas, hemorrhoids, constipation, liver and gall bladder complaints. Cascara sagrada also helps to prevent nervous disorders.
Drink 1/2 cup of tea before you go to bed, or take two capsules/tablets with meals two times daily. This herb may change the urine to a yellow-brown or reddish color. Parts used: Bark.
Don't use if you are pregnant. Don't use this herb for more than two weeks.
Cascara Sagrada may cause violent catharsis and severe intestinal cramps.
The bark from cascara sagrada must be dried for at least one year before you use it.
