GINGER

(Zingiber officinale) 

   

    This herb, also known as African Ginger, is most famous for relieving Ginger is a perennial that can grow up to 4 feet high. Grow it in a shady location.

    Ginger is often used in Chinese and Indian food because it gives a hot and strong taste.

    Taken internally (dried/ground ginger, capsules, tincture, tea) ginger can help with morning sickness, abdominal pain, rheumatoid arthritis, an upset stomach, gas, nausea, motion sickness, diarrhea, vomiting, migraine headaches and colds. Hot ginger tea will bring down a fever and help you to clear catarrh. Ginger can also help prevent cancer. 

    Apply externally (essential oil) to soothe and promote healing of minor bums, for poor circulation, period pain and for muscular pain and tension.

    There are many ways to enjoy ginger. You can add it to soups and stir-fried vegetables or even brew it into a tea. Part used: Rhizome, roots.

    Don't use if you have gastritis or peptic ulcers. Long term use of ginger is not recommended during pregnancy.
