Ginseng is a perennial berb that has been used for more than 5000 years. The flowers are yellow-green and the berries are red. It's a slow-growing, shade-loving herb that can grow up to 28 inches tall. The plant takes at least 6 years to mature.
It is very difficult to grow this herb and also very expensive, but if you would like to try to grow ginseng, plant it in a well-drained soil in a shady location. Harvest the roots when the plant is six to seven years old.
Take internally (fresh or dried root, capsules, tea) to help your body adjust to stressful situations, for colds, diabetes, flu, to normalize blood pressure, to improve concentration, to boost your energy and to promote lung functioning; it may also stimulate your appetite and enhance sexual desire.
If you had to much alcohol ginseng can lower the alcohol level in your blood. Ginseng can also help prevent cancer. Ginseng tonic (20 - 30 drops
daily) can be taken to boost immune function and to raise lower blood pressure. You can also add some ginseng to your soup. Part used: Roots.
Don't take for more than six weeks at a time since it can cause sleep disturbances, restlessness and anxiety.
